Magnus D. Magnus
We are a big-name band with tons of equipment. For international tours, we charter a 747, but for local gigs, we just can't beat the Brewmobile; a 1963 Lightburn Zeta, maintained in immaculate mechanical condition by Magnus's mum, and proudly emblazened with the "sign of the hat".
Not only does it get us around in style and comfort, but it can also be converted to an industrial strength washing machine with just the flip of a lever.

Magnus is also in the Rentspenders. Click HERE to see some photos from his gigs

When our lead singer is screaming manically at the front of the band it’s understandable not to realise he is a shy impressionable lad who likes nothing better than to curl up with a good book in front of an open fire. As he flings himself into the crowd and surfs up the moshpit you may be surprised to learn he does macramé on the weekends and has a cat called Diddums.
In short Magnus is not just a rude boy, though he can be pretty rude and it is advisable not to be in a closed room with him after a curry. He is a sensitive new-age ska-person (SNASP).
Magnus’s real name is Magnus, which people are also surprised about. He has a sister and a brother and they are both also called Magnus, which used to be quite confusing at family reunions until they took to wearing name badges, though it is not totally clear why this reduced the confusion.
Magnus is a professional musician, which means he has not been able to get a real job. This has not been helped by his training as a Social Anthropologist, thus making him about as useful to society as a Sooty impersonator.
Before Magnus our previous lead man was a life-size cardboard cut out of Suggs from Madness, and although the vocals were a bit flat there was no denying the pulling power of a celebrity. His demands were also modest, consisting only of an occasional rub down with a wet rag, being carried on stage at gigs and being stored in the van otherwise. However, when we heard Magnus’ voice and experienced his Ska moves we wanted him. When he agreed to work for exactly the same conditions as the Suggs cut-out we were convinced and signed him immediately.
Now Special Brew wouldn't be the same without him. It might have been better, but we will never know. We love him and we will never let him go.
